Mixed-pearl earrings

Practice making wrapped loops with these easy earrings

One pair of earring wires. Two head pins. Six beads. Add tools and a little wire and that’s all you need. These dangly earrings are perfect for practicing wrapped loops — and a great way to use up your bead stash!

SUPPLIES

  • 2 14–17 mm coin pearls
  • 2 11–12 mm round pearls
  • 2 7–10 mm faceted rondelles
  • 12 in. (30 cm) 24-gauge wire
  • 2 2-in. (5 cm) decorative head pins
  • pair of earring wires
  • chainnose and roundnose pliers
  • diagonal wire cutters

Check your local bead store for supplies.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. For each earring: On a decorative head pin, string a coin pearl. Make a wrapped loop. This is a bead unit.

Round and rondelle connectors
2. To make a connector: Cut a 3-in. (7.6 cm) piece of wire. On one end of the wire, make the first half of a wrapped loop. String a round pearl and make the first half of a wrapped loop. Repeat step 2 with a rondelle.

3. Attach the loop of the bead unit to a loop of the round connector. Complete the wraps on each loop.

4. Attach the top loop of the round connector to a loop of the rondelle connector. Complete the wraps. Attach the remaining loop of the rondelle connector to an earring wire. Complete the wraps.
