Glass cabochons preserve your favorite papers

Bring color and patterns to your jewelry — without using beads! — in this innovative technique borrowed from scrapbooking. With so many gorgeous papers available, the options are endless. Using a variety of different patterns in the same colorway allows you to coordinate your accessories and still keep them interesting. 1. For each earring: Apply a dab of glaze to the center of the back of a cabochon. Place the cabochon on the front of the paper, applying pressure from the center to eliminate bubbles and push the glaze out to the edge of the cabochon. Allow to dry overnight.
2. Trim the paper as close to the edge of the cabochon as possible.
3. Apply a thin layer of glue to a bezel setting, making sure to go all the way to the edges.
4. Place the cabochon in the bezel and allow the glue to dry completely.
5. Open the loop of an earring wire. Attach the bezel and close the loop.

Photo option

Try this technique using a photo instead of paper: Seal the photo with Mod Podge and allow it to dry completely before applying the glaze.

Make sure to allow the glaze to dry overnight. If it isn’t dry, it will create bubbles and streaks in the paper.
