May birthstone: Emerald flower necklace



  • 5 15mm Swarovski crystal flower components (Eclectica, 262-641-0910)
  • 3 ft. (.91m) long and short fancy diamond (3 x 7mm) chain (Eclectica)
  • 20 4mm jump rings
  • lobster claw clasp and soldered jump ring
  • 2 pairs of chainnose pliers
  • diagonal wire cutters

Step 1
Cut four lengths of chain with three complete diamonds (1 1⁄16 in./27mm)and four lengths with four complete diamonds (1 1⁄2 in./39mm). Set the remaining chain aside.

Select a loop on the back to be the center top loop.



Open a jump ring. Slide the jump ring through the end link of a shorter chain segment and then into the loop to the right of the top loop.

Attach a second flower by using a jump ring to join the other end of the chain segment with the loop to the left of the top loop.

Use jump rings to join the longer chain to the lower loops as shown. Link all five flowers with the chains, keeping the shorter chains along the top.

Step 6
Determine the finished length of your necklace (mine is 16 3⁄4 in./.43m). Measure the component section (mine is 7 in./.18m) and subtract it from the desired length. Divide that measurement in half and cut two pieces of chain to that length. Attach a jump ring to the end link of each piece of chain. Attach each chain section to opposite sides of the component section as shown.

Use jump rings to attach the lobster claw clasp to one end of the necklace and the soldered jump ring to the other end.
