Bright Lucite and crystal bracelet

String dangles on memory wire for a fun bauble

After our Midwestern winter and historic snowfalls, I can’t get enough of spring-colored Lucite. To keep the dangles front and center like a corsage, string them on oval-shaped memory wire. You’ll need to attach a clasp, but it’s a small price to pay to keep the beads from falling around to the inside of your wrist.

Learn how to make the bracelet by reading the instructions below, or download the free project PDF here.

  • 15–18 11–13 mm round Lucite beads, assorted colors
  • 7–9 12 mm round Lucite beads, one color
  • 10–13 8–9 mm round crystals and metal beads
  • 15–18 4–5 mm flat spacers
  • 26–32 3 mm round spacers
  • oval-shaped memory wire, bracelet diameter
  • 25–31 1 1⁄2-in. (3.8 cm) head pins
  • 4 mm jump ring
  • lobster claw clasp and soldered jump ring
  • chainnose and roundnose pliers
  • diagonal wire cutters
  • heavy-duty wire cutters

Step 2

1. On a head pin, string a flat spacer and a round Lucite bead. Make a wrapped loop. Make 15 to 18 units.

2. On a head pin, string a round crystal. Make a wrapped loop. Repeat with a metal bead. Make 10 to 13 units.

Cut slightly more than one complete coil of memory wire. It’s more difficult to make a loop with a stub of memory wire than it is to trim the excess later (after you’ve checked the fit).

5. String a round spacer and a bead unit. Repeat until the bracelet is within 1⁄2 in. (1.3 cm) of the finished length, ending with a round spacer.

6. Trim the excess memory wire and make a loop. Open the loop and attach a soldered jump ring.

7. On the other end, use a 4 mm jump ring to attach a lobster claw clasp.
I like the unobtrusive look of a petite lobster claw clasp — but a larger clasp would make the bracelet easier to put on.
