Vinyl tubing core

tubing core

Materials needed

  • clear vinyl tubing with an outside diameter of 3/8 in. (1 cm) and an inside diameter of 1/4 in. (6 mm). You can find this tubing at the hardware store; it is typically used for low-pressure water/food purposes. Our tube is 8 in. (20 cm) long.
  • airline tubing with an outside diameter of 1/4 in. (6 mm). This tubing can be found wherever aquarium supplies are sold. We used a 2-in. (5 cm) piece
  • superglue

1. Insert half the length of the airline tubing into one end of the vinyl tubing.

2. Insert the available end of the airline tubing into the other end of the vinyl tubing. Push together the two ends of the vinyl tubing so there is about a 4-6 mm gap.

3. Apply a small amount of superglue to each end of the vinyl tubing and the exposed airline tubing, and quickly push together the ends of the vinyl tubing so they touch.

4. Hold together the ends of the tubing for a few minutes to allow the glue to dry completely.
