This year was a big year for us. We introduced our inaugural International Metal Jewelry Artistry Awards, crowned our 2018 winners, and had another year of stunning submissions in our annual BeadDreams Competition.

But even as we reflect on all that 2018 brought to us, it is time to look ahead to the upcoming year, and start to prep for the 2019 International Metal Jewelry Artistry Awards. We can't wait for another round of metal and wire creativity!

In case you're new to the metalsmithing and wire party, here's a refresher for you on this prestigious competition. We're looking for your handmade jewelry, accessories, sculptures, and much more -- made predominantly from metal or wire.

Want to learn more about the winners of our inaugural International Metal Jewelry Artistry Awards? Read up on Janet Huddie, the GRAND AWARD winner in the Metal category for her three-dimensional masterpiece, or take flight with Deborah Benninger's stunning dragon piece which snagged HONORABLE MENTION in the WIRE category.

This could be you in 2019. Read on to learn how!

Here are the basics. The categories for this competition include:

  • METAL: Sponsored by Contenti, this category will allow submissions in handmade jewelry, accessories, sculptures, and more, made predominantly with metal.
  • WIRE: Submit jewelry, accessories, handmade beads, jewelry-related objects, and sculpture predominantly made with wire. Fire Mountain Gems and Beads and Micro-Tools are sponsoring this category.

  • STUDENT METAL AND WIRE: Open to any student enrolled full-time or part-time in any educational program with the intent to obtain a degree or certification. Sponsored by both Micro-Tools and Santa Fe Jewelry, submissions can be jewelry, accessories, sculpture and more made predominantly with metal and/or wire. Some cast or prefabricated elements are permitted, but the primary methods used must be in fabrication techniques. The Student category will encourage young artists and visionaries to contribute to the jewelry-making community, and we are thrilled to give them an opportunity to showcase their work.

The finalist judges panel includes some amazing names from the art jewelry community! We're so pleased that enamelist Linda Darty and metalsmith Andy Cooperman will lead our panel of judges

We are so excited to see what stunning work is taking place in today's metalsmithing and wirework community. Consider submitting your work TODAY!
