Facet’s How-To and Getting Started areas

Facet’s How-To area

Whether you’re a stitcher or a metal worker, whether you work at your kitchen table or in a studio, you know that certain techniques are fundamental to every jewelry project you make. These are the basics you’ll need to know before you move on. Other techniques come up less often, and when they do you’ll need a refresher.

In either case, we’ve got you covered.

Each of our five jewelry-making categories include a section called “How-Tos,” where we’ve organized articles, videos, diagrams, step-by-steps and other instructional aids that will walk you through specific techniques and tricks of the trade. Here’s a brief rundown of what you can expect to find there:

  • You’ll see different categories; click (desktop) or tap (mobile device) the arrow next to each to reveal a detailed list of topics.
  • Use the Toolboxes to find a list of the basic supplies you’ll need for a technique.
  • You can use this area to build your skills or as a helpful reference as you are working on a jewelry project.
  • If you’ve selected a Facet project to make, be on the lookout for links that will take you directly to our How-To tips and instructions.
  • Can’t find the tip or technique you’re looking for? Let us know by using our contact form. We want to continually improve and expand our How-Tos, and we love hearing your suggestions!
Facet’s Getting Started area

Are you new to jewelry making? Welcome! Do you want to explore a new technique? You’re in the right place! Our Getting Started sections are just for you.

Choose a jewelry-making category, then find the Getting Started section. Once you’re there, you’ll see videos, articles, and step-by-step instructions. We recommend browsing through these for an introduction to that technique.

Scroll further down for a selection of projects we’ve hand-picked for you – they’re just right for someone new to the technique, but once you’ve made it no one will guess you’re a beginner!

As you learn, you’ll also want to know about our How-To pages, which contain more complete and more advanced instructions and resources.
