Wire wrapped bracelet

This bracelet uses a variety of techniques to take basic skills to the next level. String a focal bead, gemstones and crystal rondelles and secure them with wrapped loops to create this colorful multi-strand bracelet.

Bracelet 8 in. (20.3 cm)

  • Copper wire, round, 19 in. (48.3 cm) 22-gauge (0.6 mm) 
  • 44 in. (1.1 m) 24-gauge (0.5 mm)
  • 15-17 in. (38.1-43.2 cm) leather cord, 1 mm diameter
  • 7-8 in. (17.8-20.3 cm) ribbon, ¾-1 in. (19-25.5 mm) wide
  • 1 25 mm gemstone focal bead
  • 7 14 mm oval crystals
  • 2 10 mm round gemstone beads
  • 6 9-10 mm large-hole crystal rondelles
  • 4 8-10 mm coin beads
  • 8-10 in. (20.3-25.4 cm) chain, 6-7 mm links
  • 2 12 mm jump rings
  • 2 7 mm jump rings
  • 2 8 mm split rings
  • Toggle clasp




Focal-bead strand

1. Cut a 3 1/2-in. (89 mm) piece of 22-gauge wire. On one end, make a wrapped loop. String a 25 mm focal bead, and make another wrapped loop (Photo A).


2. Cut a 2 1/2-in. (64 mm) piece of 22-gauge wire. On one end, make the first half of a wrapped loop, attach it to a loop of the previous unit, and complete the wraps. String an 8-10 mm coin bead, and make a wrapped loop.


3. Repeat step 2, but substitute a 10 mm round bead for the coin bead.


4. Cut a ½-1-in. (13-25.5 mm) piece of chain. Repeat step 2 with a coin bead, and attach the chain before completing the wraps on the last loop (Photo B).


5. Repeat steps 2-4 on the other side of the focal bead.
