Create a leather-clasped cuff using a beading loom

Popsicle sticks, straws, and a beading loom may seem like a supply list for a kid’s art project. But believe it or not, with these tools you’ll create a chic, leather-clasped cuff that can be embellished with gemstone beads.

Cuff 7 1/4 in. (18.4 cm)

  • Tafuri Tough three-hole leather endings with hitching post clasp (
  • Copper wire, round, dead soft 20 in. (50.8 cm) 16-gauge (1.3 mm) for the base wires

    24 ft. (7.3 m) 24-gauge (0.5 mm) for the weaving wire
    4 ft. (1.2 m) 26- or 28-gauge (0.4 or 0.32 mm) for the fringe wire

  • 80 4–5 mm briolettes

Tools & supplies

  • Popsicle stick
  • 1⁄16 in. (1.5 mm) hole-punch pliers
  • Painter’s tape
  • Metal beading loom
  • Small drinking straw
  • Bracelet mandrel, aluminum can, or other cylindrical form
