Roman glass earrings

Roman glass has a rich history, a trendy future, and a conversation-starting look. A strand of Roman glass can be pretty expensive, so you’ll want to use every bead. These earrings put the smallest disks on each end of a strand to stylish use.

Supplies

  • 4 10–12 mm Roman glass disks ($40–100 a strand)
  • 18 in. (46 cm) 26-gauge half-hard wire
  • 2 5 mm soldered jump rings
  • pair of earring wires
  • chainnose and roundnose pliers
  • diagonal wire cutters

1. Cut a 3-in. (7.6 cm) piece of wire. String a disk and make a set of wraps above it.

2. Make the first half of a wrapped loop above the wraps.

Tip!

For shorter earrings, make each loop closer to the disk.

3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 with a second disk. Cut a 3-in. (7.6 cm) piece of wire. String one of the disks a second time and make a set of wraps below it. Make a wrapped loop.

4. Attach the unwrapped loops of both disk units to a jump ring. Complete the wraps.

Tip!

Use a longer piece of wire and make free-form wraps to give the earrings an earthier feel.

5. Open the loop of an earring wire. Attach the dangle and close the loop. Make a second earring.
