Several new names and faces have appeared on our website and our magazine masthead recently and I’m excited to introduce them to you here on Facet. Experts in their fields, these six highly-respected beaders and jewelry makers have generously agreed to consult with the Facet and Bead&Button team as our Editorial Advisory Board.

So you may be wondering – why an advisory board? Well, as much as we’d like to believe we know everything there is to know about beading and the jewelry-making industry, we recognize that it is a vast and complicated industry and we wanted to bring some additional insights and perspectives to our discussions about trends, techniques, people, and events as we plan and develop projects and stories for print and the web.

All of the members of our advisory board are deeply involved in their communities, as teachers, designers, retailers, and leaders. We are so grateful that they are working with us and I look forward to sharing ideas and initiatives with you as things get underway. One project we’re working on, for example, is a regular column that will feature their answers to questions from readers. Questions like “why do my beaded bezels turn out oval instead of round?” or “what are the best and safest etchants for metal?” or “how can I make a metal clay ring that fits properly?” We hope to launch this Panel of Experts Q&A within the next month or so, so keep your eyes peeled!

In the meantime, take a few moments to find out more about the six wonderful members of our Editorial Advisory Board!
