There is so much that I love about spring — the days are getting warmer and longer; gardening season is just almost here; the morels will start appearing soon; oh, and the June Bead&Button Show is just around the corner, which means it’s Bead Dreams season!
Sara Sally LaGrand's "Fibonacci Sequence" took 2nd place in the Glass category in 2011.
Now in its 18th year, Bead Dreams is our annual juried competition showcasing exceptional bead and jewelry artistry from around the world. We’ve added categories over the years to include things like metalwork, glass, and polymer— changes that are reflected in the jewelry-making and beading communities at large — but regardless of the medium, the pieces continue to inspire awe and amazement every year at the Bead&Button Show exhibit in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Thanks to our generous sponsors, finalists will compete not only for bragging rights but they will also vie for more than $10,000 in prizes. Staci Smith took second place in the polymer category in 2015 with "Earning my Stripes."

Seeing as the talent in the bead world is absolutely astounding, we are expecting another spectacular turnout this year. And there is still time to throw your hat in the ring. Applications are being accepted until Friday, March 24. After that, we get to start going through the entries, ooh-ing and aah-ing over clever design details, gorgeous color palettes, and jaw-dropping workmanship as we select the finalists for the exhibit. It is always a truly humbling experience to see the amazing creativity and dedication that goes into the submissions. Thanks to all the talented designers who take part in this friendly battle every year – you are an inspiration to beaders and jewelry-makers everywhere!

"Tempest" by Sarah Thompson took 1st place in the 2016 Wirework category.
