Deco Egyption bracelet celebration

As soon as Colleen Ewart, owner of Island Cove Beads and Gallery located in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, received news that her Deco Egyptian bracelet was selected for publication in Bead&Button, she just knew that a party with an Egyptian theme was in order.

And party they did! The “Bead like an Egyptian” celebration took place on Saturday night, July 18, at Island Cove Beads to celebrate the release of the August 2015 issue of Bead&Button magazine featuring Colleen’s bracelet design.

“This bracelet was inspired by my love of art deco patterns. The many 2-hole beads available today lend themselves to the geometric patterns that remind me of that era,” explains Colleen.
Invitations were sent encouraging people to come dressed in their Egyptian best. Here is a picture of Colleen and a few of the Island Cove mermaid girls dressed in their fabulous Egyptian fashions. I think they look amazing, and it sounds like they really know how to host a great party.
Colleen emailed to say that the party was a great success. She said, “Our Egyptian themed party was filled with amazing art from many of our local artists, beautiful jewelry including the Deco Egyptian Bracelet featured in Bead&Button, fabulous friends, and delectable sweets and savories! Our local soap maker even contributed a limited edition Egyptian styled soap.”
If you are a local, Colleen is teaching how to make the Deco Egyptian bracelet on July 25 and August 7 at her bead store.

The Deco Egyptian bracelet is also available as a kit on her website (in nine different color options!). It includes everything except the needle, Fireline, and your personal copy of the August issue of Bead&Button which you can purchase from Island Cove Beads or subscribe to Bead&Button here.

We would love to hear about all the activities that are going on at your local bead shop. Please feel free to email us pictures anytime at
